CSE Connect

The goal of CSE Connect is to support networking and connectivity among CSE members while learning something new about a topic of interest. CSE Connect events are free for members and $15 for non-members.

Events are held most months, and most events are informal in nature and a friendly spot for networking with your colleagues in scholarly and scientific editing. We hope you’ll join us for future CSE Connect events!

Do you have an idea for a future event? Click here to send us your proposed topic. Interested in partnering with CSE? Learn more about your opportunities here.

Bullying in the Scholarly Publishing Workplace

When discussing mental health, subtler and more indirect forms of bullying can be missed when considering the safety of a workplace. Whether the unwanted behavior originates from a volunteer editor or a managing editor, every worker is entitled to a workplace that is supportive and respectful. Join Jonathan Schultz, Senior Director of Journal Operations for the American Heart Association, and Jennifer Regala, Associate Director of Publishing for Wolters Kluwer Health, as we discuss real-life examples and workshop the best ways to handle specific situations.

What Researchers and Librarians Really Think about your Manuscript Tracking System

Many journals spend their time and resources trying to improve the author experience on their manuscript tracking systems while also ensuring needed functionality for editorial and peer review processes. How are these efforts received in the researcher community? Librarians support researchers through their research process, from grants to final publication, and often hear researcher reactions directly. Join Lisa Janicke Hinchliffe, a chef at The Scholarly Kitchen as well as Professor and Coordinator for Research Professional Development at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, as we consider the manuscript workflow experience and improving the peer review process for everyone.
