The goal of CSE Connect is to support networking and connectivity among CSE members while learning something new about a topic of interest. CSE Connect events are free for members and $15 for non-members.
Events are held most months, and most events are informal in nature and a friendly spot for networking with your colleagues in scholarly and scientific editing. We hope you’ll join us for future CSE Connect events!
CSE Connect | Finding Your Voice: Practical Tips on Public Speaking
March 5, 2026 3:00 pm ET / 12:00 pm PT
Public speaking doesn’t have to feel intimidating—even if you’re an introvert or someone who dreads standing in front of a crowd or presenting via Zoom. This friendly and practical Connect session is designed specifically for those who feel anxious, self-conscious, or overwhelmed at the thought of speaking publicly. You’ll discover how to repurpose nervousness as energy, prepare with confidence, and use your individual strengths to connect authentically with an audience either in person or virtually. Whether you’re presenting to your Board, leading a conference session, or sharing in a meeting, you’ll walk away with simple tools and renewed confidence to find your voice and be heard.
Invited speakers:
Carissa Gilman, Senior Director of Journal Publishing Operations, American Cancer Society
Christine Beaty, Director of Journal Operations, American Heart Association
