CSE Connect

The goal of CSE Connect is to support networking and connectivity among CSE members while learning something new about a topic of interest. CSE Connect events are free for members and $15 for non-members.

Events are held most months, and most events are informal in nature and a friendly spot for networking with your colleagues in scholarly and scientific editing. We hope you’ll join us for future CSE Connect events!

Do you have an idea for a future event? Click here to send us your proposed topic. Interested in partnering with CSE? Learn more about your opportunities here.

How Volunteering Advanced my Career to Pave Way for Board Service and More!

We all feel stretched for time to take on any additional responsibilities. It sounds counterintuitive that you can advance your career further and faster by taking on more on your plate by way of volunteering. If you would like to learn how to advance your career with adding low intensity high impact responsibilities that can do wonders to your career, this may be the session for you! Our speaker will explore questions that we all have, like why should you consider volunteering within a professional organization? How can that volunteer work help your own career trajectory? If you're already involved in some kind of volunteer role, what can you do to magnify that role and make sure you are getting as much from the role as possible? Join Dr. Chhavi Chauhan, Director of Journal Continuing Medical Education Program at the American Society for Investigative Pathology, as we discuss how her experience serving on boards and committees has benefitted her own career and helped her explore different perspectives.

Creating a Publication Policy on AI: Evaluating and Categorizing AI Tools

While journals are struggling to create a comprehensive AI policy in an ever-changing landscape, authors are already using AI tools, often without much guidance from journals on what is permitted. With concerns about research integrity, journals can begin to tackle these complex issues by utilizing existing frameworks. Join Avi Staiman, a chef at The Scholarly Kitchen and founder and CEO of Academic Language Experts, as we dive into the problems that face publishers in creating flexible and specific policies.
