CSE Opportunities: Scholarship Program 2025 and Early Career Representative on the Board of Directors

The Council of Science Editors (CSE) is a dynamic community of editorial professionals dedicated to the responsible and effective communication of science. Its mission is to serve editorial professionals in the sciences by creating a supportive network for career development, providing educational opportunities, and developing resources for identifying and implementing high-quality editorial practices.

Early career professionals who have been in the industry for 0 - 5 years are encouraged to apply to receive a CSE Scholarship to attend the 2025 CSE Annual Meeting or to serve as a non-voting Early Career Representative on the Board of Directors (2025-2026). Membership in CSE is not a requirement for applying for either opportunity.

CSE Early Career Board Representative

CSE is offering an opportunity for early career professionals who are interested in serving as a non-voting Representative on the Board of Directors. One applicant will be selected to join the 2025-2026 Board of Directors to provide the CSE Board an early career perspective in Board discussions. This opportunity has a time commitment of approximately 5 hours per month, which will include:

  • Attendance at virtual CSE Board of Directors meeting monthly
  • Completion of a project that will benefit CSE at large, to be decided on in collaboration with the Board of Directors.

When submitting your application, you will be asked if you are interested in receiving a CSE Scholarship to attend the 2025 CSE Annual Meeting or serving as a non-voting Early Career Representative on the Board of Directors (2025-2026). These are two separate opportunities, and separate individuals will be selected for each. You may choose to be considered for one of the specific opportunities or either one, based upon your personal preference. To be considered, please submit your application by February 19, 2025.
