Science Editor Call for Editor-in-Chief & Managing Editor

Council of Science Editors (CSE) is seeking a Managing Editor (ME) and an Editor-in-Chief (EIC) for its journal, Science Editor. Since 1959, Science Editor has been CSE’s premier print and online publication serving as a “forum for the exchange of information and ideas among professionals concerned with publishing in the sciences.” The journal is published quarterly and seeks to publish articles related to peer review studies, editorial processes, publication ethics, and other items of special interest to the journal’s readers. For many CSE members, Science Editor is their main connection with the organization.

The Search Committee is looking for two committed individuals to oversee and maintain the editorial direction of the journal (EIC) / the review process for the journal (ME) and work alongside each other in these two roles to ensure a steady flow of engaging and thought-provoking original research and non-research article content in areas of interest to CSE members.

Both positions include a modest remuneration and is expected to commence in July 2026 following an onboarding period (May–June) with the current EIC and ME. Existing Science Editor Board and Section Editors will remain through the transition of the positions and afterward, at the discretion of the Editor(s).
