Patrick Shafe
As Deanta Commercial Director, Patrick’s role is centred on understanding how the Academic Publishing market is evolving in a world of continual technological innovation. This research led directly to the Trends in Academic Publishing survey and white paper, an annual series which Patrick has written, overseen, and presented to an international audience over the past three years. This research, and the roundtables that Deanta host on the back of them, feed directly into Deanta’s go-to-market strategy and product development. Patrick has a wealth of experience working with global clients across the technology and service sectors.

Jennifer Regala
Jennifer has worked in scholarly publishing for 20+ years, most recently as the Director of Publications at the American Urological Association. Prior to that, as Managing Editor of the journals The Plant Cell and Plant Physiology at the American Society of Plant Biologists. In her current role at Wolters Kluwer Health, Jennifer works with award-winning news magazine publications, including Oncology Times and Emergency Medicine News.

Nicola Ramsey
Nicky is an Edinburgh University Press (EUP) lifer but an agent of change and advocate for modernization. She took the reins at EUP during the pandemic and has overseen a major management and technological modernization program, which saw EUP become Academic, Educational and Professional Publisher of the year in the 2023 British Book Awards.

Rob Burleigh
As co-founder of Burleigh Dodds Science Publishing, Rob has always had a keen interest in employing technology to support their sustainable agriculture mission. Most notably, in 2024 this saw BDS become one of the first publishers to develop an AI-powered RAG system to offer customers a transformative means to engage with the BDS’s content.
