Featuring Dr. Daniela Saderi of PREReview and Dr. Marie Soulière of Frontiers, the event will highlight groundbreaking models and AI tools. Dr. Gareth Dyke, Co-Chair of Peer Review Week, will offer insights into the commercialization of peer review, focusing on PeerReviewMe.org. The discussion will be led by Dr. Ivan Oransky, co-founder of Retraction Watch and an expert in research integrity, ensuring a dynamic and thought-provoking session.

Speakers

Ivan Oransky, MD, is co-founder of Retraction Watch, editor in chief of The Transmitter, and distinguished journalist in residence at New York University's Arthur Carter Journalism Institute. Ivan previously was president of the Association of Health Care Journalists and vice president of editorial at Medscape. He has also held editorial leadership positions at MedPage Today, Reuters Health, Scientific American and The Scientist. He is the recipient of the 2015 John P. Dr. Marie Soulière leads strategic initiatives in open-access publishing, focusing on editorial ethics, research integrity, and high-quality peer review. She effectively balances maintaining high standards with achieving operational efficiency through the integration of artificial intelligence tools. Notably, she played a pivotal role in the development of Frontiers’ AI Review Assistant (AIRA). Dr. Soulière earned her PhD in Biochemistry and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Chemical and Computational Biology before transitioning to open access publishing a decade ago. Since 2020, she has been an elected Council Member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and is recognized for her expertise, leadership, and commitment to advancing ethical standards, frequently presenting on topics related to ethics and artificial intelligence.

Daniela Saderi, Ph.D. (ORCID iD: 0000-0002-6109-0367) is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of PREreview, an organization with the mission to bring more equity and transparency to the evaluation of research content, giving systematically excluded researchers better ways to find, train, and contribute to peer review. Daniela holds a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Oregon Health & Science University during which she studied mechanisms of auditory processing in mammals, and she is a former Mozilla Fellow for Open Science 2018/2019.

Dr. Gareth Dyke, Learning & Development Advisor and Business Development Executive for PeerReviewMe.org, will discuss the commercialization of peer review compared to the commercialization of IRBs in the 1990s, focusing on the innovative five-step peer review certification process and portable peer review services offered by PeerReviewMe.org
